Available on Cadw’s web site is the final option report produced following stakeholder consultation last autumn on options for the organisation of the heritage ‘third sector’ in Wales. The report responded to grassroots ambition for a structure that would enable effective networking and capacity building among third sector groups engaged with the historic environment. The report suggests the most suitable way forward is an informal alliance hosted within an existing organisation. The study also considered options for the organisation of buildings preservation trusts in Wales, and in particular whether there was a case for a pan-Wales heritage trust. The report suggests that there are better ways forward which could include the appointment of a Welsh development officer or officers and the strengthening of the Welsh Association of Preservation Trusts as a support organisation. The report can be found on this page of Cadw’s web site.
