Tuesday 10 March, Norwegian Church, Cardiff

The 2015 theme for International Women’s Day is ‘Making it Happen’ and RTPI Cymru and the Design Commission for Wales will be marking this by discussing at an event in Cardiff Bay how women are leading planning delivery. We will celebrate the role of women in leadership roles in planning and the wider built environment and how they are making it happen.

We are very pleased that we will be joined by Welsh Government Minister, Carl Sargeant AM, and our keynote speaker will be Fiona McCandless, Chief Planner for Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is going through significant changes at the current time in how it organises its planning system and this is being led by a woman – something to celebrate.

We will also hear from a panel of women successfully delivering in the built environment on their inspiration and thoughts for the future, including Rosslyn Stuart, the RTPI’s Director of Professional Standards and Development, Rosemary Thomas, former Chief Planner of the Welsh Government, Maria Amparo Asenjo, Architect and DCFW Design Review Panelist and Heather Jones, Professional Lead Building Control at Powys County Council.

Carole-Anne Davies from DCFW will facilitate a discussion on suggestions for the future.

The event is free to attend – but pre-booking is essential. Non-RTPI members are welcome, as are both men and women! Please contact georgina.roberts@rtpi.org.uk or telephone 029 2049 8215 to reserve your place.
